A delightful flower, warm but bright in colouring. The broad florets make up an almost circular bloom one and a half inches wide. Its tinge of colour deepens towards the centre of the flower, where there is a suffusion of yellow, and within the throat an irregular purple ring. It is almost the brightest of all. HERZOGIN JOHANN ALBRECT ZU MECKLENBURG By the special permission of Her Highness the Duchess of Mecklenburg, who gave permission to use her name for this handsome Montbretia seedling. This novelty hereby offered for the first time, distuinguished by large wide opened orange coloured blooms, reminiscent to those of Crocosmia imperialis. Ref. Krelage Catalogue, 1900.
HERTOGIN JAN ALBERT VAN MECKLENBURG (Krelage Cat. 1902), THIS NAME IS SYNONYMOUS WITH THE ABOVE NAME AS IT IS A DIRECT TRANSLATION IN DUTCH, FROM THE ORIGINAL GERMAN. This splendid Montbretia displays the best qualities of the Crocosmia imperialis and is an excellant Montbretia. The plant is especially robust and vigorous, stems branched, very floriferous, large blooms, form and habit of C. imperialis, brilliant orange-yellow.
